Residents in and around Paramus, NJ have been receiving automated “Vishing” telephone calls impersonating a local financial institution.
How it works:
A consumer receives a pre-recorded call identifying a specific local financial institution. The message informs the consumer that their accounts have been frozen. The message advises the consumer to input their ATM or Debit card number along with other information regarding their card. Unauthorized transactions appear almost immediately in Spain and possibly other countries.
What you can do:
Do not give anyone your ATM or Debit card information over the phone unless you initiate the call. Contact the Bank if you believe someone may have gained access to your card information; we can cancel your existing card and order you a new one.
The First National Bank of Suffield takes privacy and security seriously. We do not and will not use any automated service to call on consumers.
