Suffield, Connecticut
January 10, 2012
The Board of Directors of The First National Bank of Suffield (the “Bank”) and its holding company, First Suffield Financial, Inc. (Trading Symbol: FSFF.PK, the “Company”), today announced the promotion of Nancy Viggiano to serve as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank and its parent bank holding company First Suffield Financial, Inc. Ms. Viggiano will also serve as a Director of both entities and fill the vacancies created by the resignation of Mr. George W. Hermann, who announced his plans to leave the Bank effective February 1, 2012. Ms. Viggiano’s titles are expected to include the word “Interim” until the Annual Meeting.
Ms. Viggiano has been with The First National Bank of Suffield since 1995 and has served in a variety of capacities within the Bank’s retail, lending, branch administration and executive management functions. Prior to this promotion, she served as the Senior Vice President for Retail Banking.
Dr. Douglas Viets, Chairman of the Boards of both the Company and the Bank stated, “The First National Bank of Suffield is fortunate to have a talented and capable team who will be led by Nancy Viggiano. Nancy is respected by everyone in the Bank and community. She possesses the banking and leadership skills to enable the Bank to continue to be a source of financial strength and stability in the communities which we serve.
Throughout its 150 year history, the Bank has benefitted from outstanding leadership. George Hermann served as President of the Bank for the past five years and was an excellent link in that chain of leadership. We wish him continued success in his future endeavors. While George Hermann’s decision to leave the Bank was unexpected, the Board is confident that Nancy Viggiano will build on the Bank’s strong tradition of leadership. Nancy Viggiano has been instrumental in the Bank’s success, growth and profitability during the past 17 years.”
Ms. Viggiano stated, “I appreciate the confidence that has been placed in me and in our management team. I look forward to building on the Bank’s traditions of service to customers and the community, while prudently building value for our shareholders.”
Mr. Hermann stated, “It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve as President & CEO of both The First National Bank of Suffield and First Suffield Financial, Inc. for the past five years. I have never worked with a more dedicated and hardworking staff. The Board of Directors has provided the direction and support that I have needed to do my job during some challenging economic times.”
